DNS Configuration & Domain Administration
DNS is the internet's phone book, and properly configuring it is essential for a seamless web experience. I handle domain registration, DNS record management, and secure routing to connect human-readable domains to the backend infrastructure hosting the content.
My current infrastructure for moschnapps.com (managed through Squarespace) features a robust, self-hosted routing setup. Here is an overview of my capabilities:
Domain Management: Experience managing domains, subdomains, and DNS records through registrars like Squarespace and Google Domains.
Dynamic DNS & CNAMEs: Utilizing Dynamic DNS with CNAME records to reliably point external traffic to a dynamic home network address to avoid having to pay for a static IP from my ISP.
Reverse Proxy Integration: Catching incoming web traffic and securely routing requests to various independent, self-hosted backend services.
Custom Email Routing: Configuring domain-level aliases to route professional addresses (like Lewis@moschnapps.com) to primary mailboxes efficiently, avoiding the overhead of dedicated email hosting.
